A delightful twist on classic comfort food, this Smashburger Grilled Cheese unites the oozy cheesiness of a grilled cheese with the hearty satisfaction of a burger.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 small Onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Smashburger Sauce
  • 8 slices Hearty White Bread
  • 8 slices American Cheese
  • 2 cups Havarti Cheese (shredded)
  • 1/3 cup Sliced Dill Pickle Chips
  • 2 tbsp Salted Butter
  • Kosher Salt (to taste)
  • Fresh Cracked Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onions in a skillet over medium heat until soft and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
  2. Form the beef into four equal portions, season and shape into balls.
  3. Smash the beef balls in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side with cheese on top to melt.
  4. Prepare bread by spreading butter on one side of each slice.
  5. Assemble the sandwich with cheese, beef patty, onions, and pickles on unbuttered sides.
  6. Grill the sandwich in the skillet until golden brown, 3-4 minutes on each side.
  7. Slice and serve hot.
