A comforting and easy weeknight dish featuring penne pasta, Italian sausage, and a sweet garlic Parmesan sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until cooked through, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add butter and garlic to the skillet, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey and cook for an additional minute to let the flavor meld.
  5. Toss in the cooked penne with Parmesan cheese and parsley, mixing well to coat everything evenly.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and optional crushed red pepper flakes before serving warm.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute sausage for ground turkey or chicken. Make it vegetarian by using plant-based sausage.
