Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 rack baby back ribs
  • 34 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • 2 large sweet or yellow onions (cut into thin rings)
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt or Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black peppercorns
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the sliced onions down the center of the foil.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the dry rib rub ingredients: light brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cinnamon. Mix well.
  4. Rinse the baby back ribs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  5. Brush the ribs with 3-4 tablespoons of balsamic glaze.
  6. Rub half of the dry rib rub onto the bottom side of the ribs.
  7. Lay the seasoned side of the ribs onto the arranged onions.
  8. Rub the remaining rib rub onto the top side of the ribs.
  9. Place the ribs in the preheated oven on the center rack and cook for 2 1/2 hours.
  10. After 2 1/2 hours, brush the ribs with a strawberry simple syrup mixture, then continue cooking for an additional 30 minutes.
  11. Remove the ribs from the oven and brush them generously with strawberry barbecue sauce. Allow to rest for 15 minutes.
  12. Serve the ribs with extra strawberry barbecue sauce on the side.

Notes

For the best flavor, let the ribs marinate with the rub and glaze for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
