Sticky Honey BBQ Garlic Butter Sausage Rice Skillet

A comforting one-pan meal combining smoky sausage, sweet honey, tangy BBQ, and garlic-infused rice for a delightful dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced

Instructions

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Melt the remaining butter in the same skillet, then add the diced onion and bell pepper. Sauté until softened, around 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and smoked paprika; cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add the long-grain rice to the skillet, cooking for about 2 minutes to lightly toast it.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, honey, and BBQ sauce. Stir well to combine, and bring it all to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 15-18 minutes until the rice is tender and has absorbed all the liquid.
  7. Return the sausage to the skillet, mixing it well and heating for an additional 2-3 minutes. Season to taste and garnish with parsley before serving.
