A rich and zesty pizza sauce bursting with flavor, perfect for your homemade pizzas.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp balsamic vinegar (optional, for depth of flavor)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until golden and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce and tomato paste, combining them into a rich mixture.
  4. Sprinkle in the oregano, basil, onion powder, salt, sugar, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes, stirring well.
  5. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and allow it to bubble for about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Stir in the balsamic vinegar just before removing from heat for added depth of flavor.
  7. Let the sauce cool slightly before using on your favorite pizza crust.

Notes

For a smoother sauce, blend it before using. Adjust seasoning to taste, and don’t rush the simmering process.
