Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by washing and drying them thoroughly, then inserting a stick into the top of each apple.
  2. Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Infuse the mixture with pineapple juice and lemon juice, cooking without stirring until it reaches hard crack stage (about 300°F or 150°C).
  4. Add food coloring if desired, stirring gently to combine.
  5. Coat each apple in the hot candy mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Cool the coated apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Decorate with sprinkles if desired once the candy has set slightly.
  8. Let the apples sit until the candy fully hardens before serving.

Notes

Ensure apples are at room temperature before dipping for better candy adherence. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
