Classic Panna Cotta

A silky smooth Italian dessert, perfect for any occasion, adorned with fresh berries and mint.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 ml heavy cream
  • 100 ml whole milk
  • 80 g granulated sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 7 g powdered gelatin
  • 2 tbsp cold water
  • Fresh berries for serving
  • Mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle powdered gelatin over cold water in a small bowl and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  2. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds.
  3. Combine heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla seeds, and the vanilla pod in a saucepan.
  4. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat, discard the vanilla pod, and whisk in the bloomed gelatin until dissolved.
  6. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a jug.
  7. Pour the mixture into lightly oiled ramekins or molds and let them cool to room temperature.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
  9. Dip the molds in warm water, invert onto plates, and garnish with fresh berries and mint leaves.

Notes

Experiment with different flavorings like citrus zest or coffee for a fun twist.
