Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 buttery sandwich buns
  • Pickles
  • 1 cup slaw (cabbage, mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken thighs in a bowl filled with buttermilk and hot sauce for several hours or overnight.
  2. Prepare the crunchy coating by whisking together flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to about 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dredge the marinated chicken in the spiced flour mixture, then fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Drain the fried chicken on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  6. Assemble the sandwiches by placing the fried chicken on the buns, topping them with pickles and slaw.
  7. Serve and savor the flavors while warm.

Notes
