A rich and indulgent chocolate cake perfect for late-night cravings or celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • For the fudge frosting:
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in the boiling water carefully until well combined.
  5. Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake in your preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium bowl and mix in the cocoa powder until smooth.
  9. Gradually add the powdered sugar and milk until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
  10. Spread the fudge frosting over the cooled cake.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter or top with chocolate shavings.
