A creamy and indulgent Mexican White Cheese Dip perfect for gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) white American cheese, shredded or cubed
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 small can (4 oz / 110 g) diced green chilies (optional)
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely diced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • 1–2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine the cheeses in a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring until melted and smooth.
  2. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and salt. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  3. Add diced green chilies if using, for added flavor.
  4. Incorporate the diced jalapeño, adjusting for spice preference.
  5. Stir in butter for a richer texture, allowing it to melt fully.
  6. Remove from heat once the dip is smooth and heated through.
  7. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or dippers, garnished with cilantro.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat on low heat, adding milk if needed.
