  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups whole milk (or heavy cream for extra creaminess)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the cheese sauce: In the same pot, melt one tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Pour in milk or heavy cream and heat through.
  3. Add the cheese: Gradually whisk in shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and grated Parmesan, stirring until smooth. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder if desired.
  4. Combine and serve: Return cooked macaroni to the pot and stir to coat thoroughly with the cheese sauce.
  5. Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For a baked version, transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
