Delightfully gooey cinnamon rolls that are simple to make and perfect for weekend mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Create the dough mixture: Add melted butter, egg, and the frothy yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let it rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough: Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread butter on top, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  7. Form the rolls: Roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 rolls.
  8. Second rise: Place rolls in a greased baking pan and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake to perfection: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Finish with icing: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.
