Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20)
To taste: salt
To taste: black pepper
4 burger buns
4 slices cheddar cheese
For toasting: butter
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
To taste: pickles
To taste: ketchup (for topping)
To taste: mustard (for topping)
Instructions
Start by gathering all your ingredients. This includes your ground beef, buns, cheese, and all the fixings.
In a mixing bowl, gently season your ground beef with salt and black pepper.
Divide the seasoned beef into four equal portions, keeping them loosely shaped into balls.
Preheat a large cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
Place the beef balls onto the griddle with plenty of room between them. Firmly press down on each ball to flatten.
After about 3-4 minutes of cooking, place a slice of cheddar on top of each patty and cover with a lid.
While the burgers finish cooking, use butter to toast the insides of the burger buns on the hot griddle.
Now comes the fun part! Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom bun, then layer on a lettuce leaf, the cheesy burger patty, a slice of tomato, pickles, and finally, the top bun.
Cut the burgers in half and serve with your favorite side.
Notes
Use high-quality ground beef for the best flavor and texture. Don’t overcrowd the grill for optimal searing.
