A nostalgic and delightful recipe for homemade Twinkies filled with creamy goodness.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a Twinkie pan or a muffin tin with a bit of butter.
  3. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  4. Cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  6. Incorporate the vanilla extract into the mixture.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and egg mixture, alternating with the milk.
  8. Spoon the batter into your prepared pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  9. Bake for about 15-18 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the cakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them onto a wire rack.
  11. Whip together the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  12. Fill the holes in each cake with the whipped cream filling.
  13. Dust the Twinkies with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover Twinkies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the fridge for up to a week.
