A delightful homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream, reminiscent of childhood, blending creamy goodness with refreshing mint and chocolate chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, peppermint extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar dissolves. Add green food coloring if desired.
  2. Churn the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions, about 20-25 minutes. Stir in the chocolate chips towards the end.
  3. Freeze the mixture in a freezer-safe container if you don’t have an ice cream maker. Stir in chocolate chips after 2 hours, then continue to freeze and stir every 30 minutes until scoopable.
  4. Serve in bowls or cones, garnishing with extra chocolate chips or fresh mint if desired.

Notes

For a deeper mint flavor, let your base sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before churning.
