A moist and fluffy homemade chocolate cake topped with rich chocolate frosting, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the boiling water carefully into the batter.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. Frosting the first layer with chocolate frosting and top with the second layer. Frost the entire cake.
  8. Serve and enjoy the cake with family and friends!

Notes

For a richer flavor, melt butter instead of oil. Sift cocoa before measuring to avoid clumps.
