A rich and creamy homemade Alfredo sauce that’s perfect for pasta and can be customized with add-ins like chicken or shrimp.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (freshly grated for best flavor)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pasta of choice (for serving)
  • Cooked chicken or shrimp (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
  2. Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring gently.
  4. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. If adding chicken or shrimp, mix them in and toss with your favorite cooked pasta.

Notes

Serve with garlic bread and a salad. Pairs well with a light white wine, like Pinot Grigio.
