Delicious ham and cheese swirls wrapped in flaky puff pastry, perfect for gatherings or as a quick snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 4 slices ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (your choice)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle.
  3. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry.
  4. Arrange the ham slices over the mustard layer.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheese and black pepper over the ham.
  6. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the pastry into a log.
  7. Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 slices about 1 cm thick.
  8. Whisk together the egg and milk to create an egg wash.
  9. Brush the egg wash generously over the tops of your swirls.
  10. Slide the baking sheet into the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden.
  11. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Feel free to customize with different cheeses or add sautéed vegetables.
