Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

A nostalgic and simple grilled cheese sandwich that is crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 8 slices of cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Carefully place 4 slices of bread in the skillet, buttered side down.
  4. Add a slice of cheese on top of each bread slice in the skillet.
  5. Top each cheese slice with another slice of bread, buttered side facing up.
  6. Cook for 2-4 minutes until the bottom bread slice is golden brown.
  7. Carefully flip each sandwich using a spatula.
  8. Cook for an additional 2-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Remove the grilled cheese sandwiches from the skillet.
  10. Repeat steps 3-9 with the remaining ingredients and serve hot.

Notes

Pair with a bowl of creamy tomato soup for a classic combination.
