Thick slices of cabbage roasted until tender and caramelized, infused with savory garlic and rich butter.

  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for roasting.
  2. Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage. Cut it into 1-inch thick slices to create “steaks.”
  3. Brush both sides of the cabbage slices with olive oil, ensuring they’re well coated.
  4. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Use the melted garlic butter to brush evenly over both sides of the cabbage steaks, infusing them with rich flavor.
  6. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika over the cabbage steaks.
  7. Roast the cabbage in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Flip each steak and roast for an additional 10 minutes until golden and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven and top with chopped fresh parsley and red pepper flakes.
  9. Serve these warm and enjoy the delightful flavors!
