Indulge in these delightful fried cheese bites, a simple snack that combines a crispy exterior with a gooey mozzarella center.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 ounces mozzarella string cheese, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Cayenne pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the coating by setting up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs and milk, and one with bread crumbs mixed with cayenne pepper for extra zing.
  2. Coat each mozzarella piece in flour, then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally roll it in the bread crumbs.
  3. Chill the coated cheese bites in the freezer for 20 to 30 minutes to help the coating set.
  4. Fry the chilled bites in heated vegetable oil until golden brown, about 30 seconds to 1 minute per batch.
  5. Drain the fried bites on paper towels and serve immediately with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Ensure the oil temperature is right to avoid burning. You can add different seasonings to the bread crumbs for variety.
