  • 1 lb rigatoni or penne pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 1/2 ounces pepperoni, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 jars (14 ounces each) pizza sauce
  • 16 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Slow Cooker: Spray the interior of a 6-quart or larger slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Cook the Pasta: Cook the pasta according to the package directions, stopping 1-2 minutes before al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the Meats: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned.
  4. Sauté the Vegetables: Add the diced onion and sauté until softened.
  5. Add the Flavor: Stir in pepperoni and minced garlic, sautéing for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Combine the Filling: Transfer the meat mixture to a large bowl, stir in pizza sauce and Italian seasoning, then add the pasta and toss to coat.
  7. Layer the Crockpot: Layer half of the pasta mixture into the slow cooker and top with half of the mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat the Layers: Repeat with the remaining pasta mixture and finish with remaining mozzarella cheese.
  9. Cook Until Perfect: Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Serve and Garnish: Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
