A delightful dish that combines sweet and tangy orange with rich salmon, featuring a crispy skin and luscious glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 4 6-ounce salmon fillets (skin on)
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic (crushed or minced)
  • 1 pinch salt (to taste)
  • 1 pinch cracked pepper (to taste)
  • 1/2 orange sliced (to serve)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Oil and Butter: Heat butter (or oil) in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat until it’s hot and shimmering.
  2. Sear the Salmon: Sear salmon fillets skin-side up for 3-4 minutes. The salmon should develop a beautiful golden crust.
  3. Flip the Salmon: Carefully flip the salmon fillets and sear for another 2 minutes, ensuring the skin gets crispy and holds its texture.
  4. Add the Orange Juice: Pour in the fresh orange juice and let it bubble and reduce to half, which should take about 1 minute.
  5. Introduce Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the pan and cook until fragrant, just about 30 seconds.
  6. Combine the Glaze: Move the salmon to the sides of the pan and add honey and soy sauce. Stir well to combine.
  7. Simmer: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer until reduced to a syrupy consistency, around 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  8. Coat the Salmon: Gently move the salmon around in the sauce to coat each piece evenly while seasoning with salt and pepper to your taste.
  9. Serve: Drizzle the remaining sauce over the salmon and garnish with orange slices.

Notes

Use a non-stick skillet to avoid sticking. Fresh orange juice is recommended for best flavor.
