  • 4 hot dogs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk together the milk and egg until smooth in another bowl.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  5. Insert wooden skewers into each hot dog.
  6. Dip each hot dog into the prepared batter until fully coated.
  7. Carefully place the coated corn dogs into the hot oil, frying until golden brown for about 3-5 minutes.
  8. Remove the corn dogs and drain them on paper towels.
