A comforting one-skillet creamy pasta dish with smoky sausage and bold Cajun flavors, ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil.
  2. Sauté the sausage and veggies. Once the oil is hot, sauté the sliced sausage along with the diced bell pepper, onion, and minced garlic for about 5–7 minutes, or until everything becomes tender and fragrant.
  3. Add the magic seasoning. Stir in the Cajun seasoning, allowing it to coat the sausage and veggies.
  4. Combine the liquids. Next, add the chicken broth and heavy cream to the skillet. Mix it all together and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  5. Add the pasta. Once simmering, add in the uncooked penne pasta, stirring to combine.
  6. Cover and cook. Cover the skillet and let it cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente.
  7. Melt the cheese. Once the pasta is cooked, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it melts into the sauce.
  8. Season and serve. Finally, taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley if you like!
