A rich and creamy seafood bisque packed with fresh crab and shrimp flavors, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh crab meat, picked over for shells
  • 1 cup shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 4 cups seafood stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  2. Pour in the white wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate.
  3. Add the seafood stock, Old Bay seasoning, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and bring the bisque back to a low simmer.
  6. Add the crab meat and shrimp, cooking for an additional 5-7 minutes until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
  7. Adjust seasoning if necessary, then remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a thicker bisque, simmer longer or use an immersion blender for a few seconds. Can be made a day in advance and reheated gently before serving.
