A delightful one-pan meal featuring tender orzo pasta, shredded chicken, and a creamy BBQ ranch sauce, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Seasonings: garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper

Instructions

  1. Sauté Chicken: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 6-7 minutes on each side until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
  2. Toast Orzo: Using the same skillet, add the orzo pasta and toast for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
  3. Boil Broth: Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a boil. Cover and reduce the heat, allowing the orzo to simmer for about 10-12 minutes until it’s tender and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  4. Shred Chicken: While the orzo cooks, shred the resting chicken into bite-sized pieces using two forks or your hands, then set aside.
  5. Create the Sauce: Stir the heavy cream, BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, and shredded white cheddar cheese into the cooked orzo until everything is combined and creamy.
  6. Combine Chicken with Orzo: Add the shredded chicken back to the skillet with the orzo and creamy sauce, mixing everything until the chicken is heated through, about 2-3 minutes more.
  7. Serve and Garnish: Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired, and enjoy the rich, mouthwatering flavors!
