Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package Phyllo dough
  • 1 cup Walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup Pistachios, chopped
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Honey
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the phyllo dough by laying out the sheets on a clean surface and brushing each layer with melted butter.
  3. Mix the nut filling by combining chopped walnuts, pistachios, and a dash of cinnamon in a bowl.
  4. Layer some of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
  5. Continue layering the phyllo and nut mixture, finishing with a top layer of phyllo dough brushed with butter.
  6. Cut the layered baklava into diamond shapes with a sharp knife.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Create the sweet syrup by combining honey, sugar, and water in a saucepan and bringing to a boil.
  9. Soak the baklava with the honey syrup after it comes out of the oven and let it rest before serving.

Notes

Keep phyllo dough covered with a damp towel to prevent it from drying out. Allow baklava to sit after pouring on syrup for enhanced flavors.
