  • 2 pounds potatoes, sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, fanning them out.
  3. Add half of the diced ham, onion, and cheese over the potatoes.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Mix together the heavy cream and milk, then pour it evenly over the layered ingredients.
  7. Dot the top with butter.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a crispy top, consider broiling for a few minutes at the end of baking. Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
