A festive Cajun seafood boil that brings the rich flavors of the South to your dinner table, perfect for gatherings with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Jumbo shrimp (deveined and cleaned)
  • 1 pound Crab (snow crab or preferred type, pre-cooked crab legs optional)
  • 1 pound Andouille sausage (sliced; kielbasa can be used as a milder substitute)
  • 4 medium Potatoes (red potatoes or Yukon gold recommended)
  • 4 ears Corn on the cob (fresh, frozen, or canned)
  • 4 Hard-boiled eggs (optional)
  • 8 quarts Beer (can substitute with chicken or vegetable broth)
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • Aromatic herbs (such as bay leaves, thyme, and parsley – quantity as desired)
  • 1/2 cup Garlic butter (made by melting butter and sautéing minced garlic)

Instructions

  1. Create the Flavorful Base: In a large pot, combine 8 quarts of water, beer (if using), Cajun seasoning, and aromatic herbs. Bring this mixture to a rolling boil, allowing the flavors to meld together and create a robust base for your seafood boil.
  2. Precook the Potatoes: Add the potatoes to the boiling broth and cook for 10-15 minutes until they become slightly tender but are not fully cooked.
  3. Add Corn and Sausage: Throw in the ears of corn and the sliced Andouille sausage to the pot. Let these simmer together for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the Seafood: Gently add the cleaned jumbo shrimp and crab to the pot. Cook them until the shrimp turn bright pink and the crab is heated through, roughly 5-7 minutes.
  5. Prepare the Garlic Butter: While the seafood cooks, melt ½ cup of butter in a separate pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and golden.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Carefully drain the cooked ingredients and transfer them to a large serving platter. Drizzle the garlic butter over the seafood boil and toss gently to coat.

Notes

Best enjoyed with crusty French bread and a cold drink. Adjust spice levels and ingredients to personal preference.
