A delightful blend of rich brownies and flaky baklava that’s sure to impress at any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package phyllo dough (16 oz)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pistachios)
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Mix the melted butter and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
  4. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Lay down half of the phyllo sheets in the greased baking dish, brushing each with melted butter.
  6. Spread the brownie batter evenly over the phyllo layers.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the brownie batter.
  8. Layer the remaining phyllo sheets on top, brushing each with melted butter.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
  10. Combine honey, water, and cinnamon in a saucepan and bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
  11. Pour the hot syrup evenly over the baked baklava.
  12. Cool slightly before cutting into squares.

Notes

Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. Store covered at room temperature for up to three days or refrigerate for a week.
