A delicious fusion of flaky baklava and rich brownies, drizzled with honey for an irresistible dessert.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pistachios)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Mix the chopped nuts with the cinnamon in another bowl.
  5. Layer half of the phyllo dough in the greased dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
  6. Spread half of the brownie batter over the phyllo layer.
  7. Sprinkle half of the nut mixture over the brownie layer.
  8. Repeat the layering process with the remaining phyllo dough, brownie batter, and nut mixture.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Glaze with warm honey after baking.
  11. Cool, slice into squares or diamonds, and serve.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container. Allow to come to room temperature before serving.
