Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until they are browned and cooked through.
  5. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
  6. Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  7. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, cooking until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
  9. Add milk and butter to the potatoes, mashing until smooth and creamy. Season with salt to taste.
  10. Serve the meatballs over the buttery mashed potatoes, generously drizzled with brown gravy.

Notes

Garnish with extra chopped parsley. Pair with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables.
