A vibrant, protein-packed black bean burger that doesn’t skimp on flavor, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup diced bell pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan option)
  • Burger buns
  • Toppings (lettuce, tomato, avocado, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Mash the black beans in a bowl until mostly smooth.
  2. Mix in the breadcrumbs, diced onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Incorporate the egg (or a flax egg) and mix until combined.
  4. Form the mixture into patties using your hands.
  5. Cook the patties in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side.
  6. Assemble the hot patties on burger buns with your choice of toppings.

Notes

These burgers store well in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or freeze for up to 3 months.
