Deliciously gooey bars with layers of chocolate and caramel, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, folding in the chocolate chips.
  6. Press half of the dough into the prepared baking dish as the base.
  7. Spread the caramel sauce evenly over the dough.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the caramel layer and bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool completely in the pan, then slice into squares.

Notes

Serve with ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
