A creamy and indulgent banana pudding layered with vanilla wafers and ripe bananas, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 4 bananas
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base mixture by combining the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for 5-7 minutes until it thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and egg yolk until incorporated.
  4. Layer the serving dish with vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding; repeat until the dish is filled.
  5. Whip the heavy cream to soft peaks and spread it over the assembled pudding.
  6. Chill for at least 120 minutes before serving.

Notes

Try adding a splash of bourbon or rum for a richer flavor, and don’t forget to toss banana slices in lemon juice to prevent browning.
