Soft and sweet baked apple fritters filled with fresh apple goodness, perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Beat the egg in a separate bowl, then add the milk and vanilla extract, and stir to combine.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Transfer the fritters to the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes to ensure they are cooked through.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  10. Dust the baked apple fritters with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Best served warm, can be enjoyed as is or with ice cream. Store in an airtight container.
