A delightful British side dish, perfect for soaking up gravy and rich sauces, characterized by its crispy exterior and soft, airy interior.

  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil (for the pan)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, eggs, salt, and milk until smooth.
  3. Pour a small amount of vegetable oil into a baking dish or muffin tin, and place it in the oven to heat for about 5 minutes.
  4. Carefully pour the batter into the hot oil (about half full).
  5. Return to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  6. Serve immediately!

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh and hot from the oven. Can be paired with gravy, stews, or even filled with sweet custard as a dessert.
