Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or other mix-ins (optional)
  • Food coloring (optional, for swirls)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually blend the dry mixture into the wet mixture.
  6. Add in chocolate chips or any mix-ins if desired.
  7. Divide the dough into two parts, tint one with food coloring.
  8. Roll each part of the dough into a log and twist them together.
  9. Slice the logs into disks and place them on a baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Allow to cool on a wire rack before enjoying.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to one week or freeze for up to three months. Allow frozen cookies to thaw before serving.
