A delightful twist on the classic tiramisu featuring layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone, enriched with fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g ladyfingers
  • 250 g mascarpone
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 100 g sugar
  • 300 g strawberries
  • 1 cup espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Whip the cream: In a bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. In another bowl, mix mascarpone cheese with sugar until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture, ensuring it’s light and fluffy.
  2. Soak the ladyfingers: Dip each ladyfinger in the cooled espresso (mixed with coffee liqueur if you desire) for a few seconds to soak. Don’t leave them too long, or they’ll turn mushy!
  3. Layer the base: Layer the soaked ladyfingers in a round dish to form the base. Arrange them in a neat but casual fashion – no need for perfection here!
  4. Spread the mascarpone mixture: Spread half of the mascarpone mixture generously over the ladyfingers. Let it seep into the cracks for that delightful texture.
  5. Add fresh strawberries: Slice the strawberries and layer half of them on top of the mascarpone. Their juicy sweetness will infuse into the creaminess below.
  6. Repeat the layers: Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture, and top with the rest of the strawberries.
  7. Chill and set: Cover and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes or preferably overnight. This step is essential as it allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
  8. Dust with cocoa powder: Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder. This adds an elegant finish and a slight bitterness that perfectly balances the sweetness.

Notes

Serve alongside a cup of strong coffee or a glass of dessert wine. Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge covered for up to 3 days.
