A delicious taco recipe featuring crispy halloumi cheese drizzled with a spicy honey marinade, topped with fresh avocado and cilantro.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 g halloumi cheese, sliced into 1 cm thick pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 1 cup red cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: sour cream or Greek yogurt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Pat dry the halloumi slices with a paper towel.
  2. In a small bowl, mix honey, chili flakes, smoked paprika, lime juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add halloumi slices to the pan; cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Drizzle half of the spicy honey mixture over halloumi while cooking.
  6. Warm tortillas in a separate pan or microwave until soft.
  7. Remove halloumi from heat once cooked.
  8. Assemble tacos with warm tortilla, halloumi, shredded cabbage, avocado, and cilantro.
  9. Drizzle reserved spicy honey mixture on top and add optional sour cream or Greek yogurt if desired.
  10. Repeat with remaining ingredients and serve.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh; pairing with zesty lime and salad balances flavors.
