An easy and comforting slow cooker butter chicken recipe infused with aromatic spices that warms your heart and belly.

  • 1.5 lbs chicken thighs or breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Cooked rice or naan, for serving

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients. In a slow cooker, add the chicken, butter, diced tomatoes, onion, garlic, ginger, garam masala, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the chicken is tender.
  3. Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks and stir in the heavy cream until well combined.
  4. Serve hot over rice or with naan, making sure each plate receives a good ladle of that richly spiced sauce.

Notes

Pair with basmati rice or naan for a complete meal. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
