A bright and flavorful orange curd perfect for spreading on toast, filling cakes, or topping desserts.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Combine the orange juice, orange zest, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Whisk the eggs in a bowl. Slowly pour the warm orange mixture into the eggs while whisking constantly to temper them.
  3. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted and smooth.
  5. Pour the curd into a jar or container and let it cool. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh orange juice. Store in a refrigerator and consume within 1-2 weeks.
