Delightful red velvet cookies topped with a chocolate kiss, perfect for sharing on special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Hershey’s chocolate kisses or similar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are slightly soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. For long-term storage, freeze them for up to three months.
