Deliciously soft and buttery sugar cookies topped with rich cream cheese frosting, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  2. Cream together softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until combined.
  3. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients to form a soft dough. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges turn golden. Cool on wire racks.
  5. For the frosting, beat together softened cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Frost the cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles or chocolate chips if desired.

Notes

Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. For a nut-free variation, omit the almond extract.
