A warm and comforting dessert featuring rich flavors of bourbon and sweet pecans, perfect for holidays and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups of stale bread, cubed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup of butter, melted
  • 1 cup of maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Place the cubed bread in the baking dish and pour the custard mixture over the bread, gently pressing down to soak.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top and drizzle melted butter.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving, and drizzle with warm maple syrup.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
