A delicious dessert that combines bread pudding with the rich taste of bourbon and crunchy pecans, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups of stale bread, cubed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 cup of pecans, chopped
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, bourbon, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the mixture and gently fold in the pecans. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the custard.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Use stale bread for the best texture. Fresh bread may become too mushy. For extra flavor, consider toasting the pecans slightly before adding them. Feel free to add raisins or chocolate chips if desired.
