  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar or glaze for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Creaming together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the fresh orange juice.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cardamom, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
