A comforting and delightful bread made with sweet dates and crunchy nuts, perfect for breakfast or snacks.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped dates and nuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Pairs beautifully with cream cheese or butter. Store leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature or freeze for up to three months.
