Delicious Mediterranean chicken burgers made with ground chicken, feta, and fresh herbs, perfect for summer BBQs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh mint, chopped (optional)
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground chicken
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for binding)
  • Olive oil, for cooking
  • Burger toppings: sliced tomatoes, red onion, lettuce, tzatziki sauce, or pita bread

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, crumbled feta, parsley, mint (if using), minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix gently until just combined—be careful not to overwork the mixture!
  2. Shape the mixture into 4-6 evenly sized patties. This step is crucial; avoiding overworking the meat keeps the burgers tender and delicious.
  3. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat or preheat your grill if you prefer outdoor cooking. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, until they turn a beautiful golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  4. Serve the cooked patties on buns or pita bread, and don’t skimp on the toppings! Add fresh lettuce, juicy tomato slices, crunchy red onion, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce for a Mediterranean touch.

Notes

Marinate the patties in olive oil and lemon juice for added flavor. Use fresh herbs for better taste.
